Greetings from the Wilkes Democratic Party! With Labor Day approaching, school starting, and election season all in full swing, I know everyone has a full plate these days. But regardless of how busy we are, it is imperative that we as concerned citizens move this county and this country forward in November.
As citizens of Wilkes, we have an opportunity to put our county back on the right track by sending Democrats to the County Commission. Roger Elliott and Luther Parks need our support. For the first time in two decades Wilkes County will have a new Sheriff; we must be vigilant to ensure that Sheriff's name is David Pendry: a highly qualified, proven lawman with deep Wilkes County roots. The business of running our state is more complicated than ever, with deep budget cuts and shortfalls that require genuine expertise. No candidate for NC House 94 is more suited to keep a state budget on track than a man who made a career in finance with the FDIC: Dave Moulton. Senator Steve Goss has put Wilkes County at the top of his list of priorities for the past four years; saving jobs, state parks, and a visitor's center. We have a deep and talented slate of local candidates for office. Wilkes County needs these men in office.
When we look towards the higher races on the ballot this November, those of U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator, we must look at the facts. Rep. Virginia Foxx is consistently rated one of the LEAST effective members of Congress. Our Democratic candidate, Billy Kennedy, is a man of the people; a farmer and carpenter who is running one of the most effective grassroots campaigns in history. The people of the 5th District (Wilkes citizens included) cannot afford to miss the opportunity to replace Ineffective Foxx with Man of the People Kennedy. And lastly we come to the United States Senate. Our current senator, Richard Burr, is an obstructionist, plain and simple. His mission is to block any and all efforts the President and Congress are making to ease the pain being felt by mainstream Americans due to the Great Bush Recession. Elaine Marshall is the answer. Hardworking, intelligent, driven, and committed are just a few ways to describe the woman who needs to be our next US Senator.
All these great Democrats need our help. And the Wilkes Democratic Party wants you to know that we are working everyday to make sure these folks win come November. Wilkes County needs you. North Carolina needs you. The United States needs you to work for a better tomorrow. On this website we have many opportunities for you to get involved: canvasses, rallies, financial donations, phone banks, and more. Please take the time to volunteer, and please be sure to vote. Early Voting begins October 14th and is made available at multiple sites throughout the county for voter convenience. Let's work hard so we can say Wilkes County is moving forward!

The Wilkes Democratic Party has some great candidates who can really make a difference, if elected. That's where you come in. We need your help. Wilkes County needs your help. Joblessness is rampant. Major financial crisis is just one missed paycheck away for many of our local families. We need leaders who will look to the future, not long for the past. As citizens, we have an obligation to elect the men and women most qualified and most committed to the prosperity of Wilkes and her citizens. I am pleased to know that our candidates for Senate, US House, NC Senate, NC House, County Commissioner, Board of Education, and Sheriff are people of conscience, integrity, and experience.
