State Executive Committee Rejects Parker's Resignation
A specially called State Executive Committee meeting was held May 12 in Greensboro. The purpose was to elect State Officers for positions that were vacant. The meeting began with Chair David Parker offering his resignation. This was purportedly related to his handling of a sexual harassment lawsuit that had been filed against Executive Director Jay Parmley who had earlier resigned. Governor Purdue, along with other high ranking State Democratic officials had publicly asked Parker to resign a few weeks ago and he agreed to do so. However, the State Executive Committee voted to reject Parker's resignation and therefore keep him on as Chair. That being resolved, the Executive Committee also elected Zack Hawkins as the new Second Vice Chair and TE Austin as the new Secretary. DNC members were also elected.
